What is a Workmanship Warranty?

What does it really mean? If you are having a new roof installed on your home, you absolutely want a workmanship warranty. These warranties protect you, as the homeowner, against any workmanship, or installation errors that your roofing contractor may make. Some companies offer 1-3 year warranties on their workmanship, while other companies offer no workmanship warranty. So make sure you understand any fine print, and what all is included in the coverage of the warranty. Once your workmanship warranty expires the company is not liable for free service up to that point. All American Home Improvement is the one company that offers a LIFETIME workmanship warranty backed by Owens Corning! Call us today for your quote! (812) 746-1115

Breakthrough in Roofing

The SureNail Series Shingles have some impressive qualities that homeowners should never over look when purchasing a new roof.

Some of the highlights of this shingle is the new design it features. Owens Corning has installed a woven, engineered reinforcing fabric in the nailing area of the shingle. This helps promote easy, fast, and consistent nail gun fastening. The triple layer protection reinforcement results in excellent fastener holding power. Outstanding adhesive power is another feature that sets this single apart from the rest. Owens Corning's wide adhesive Tru-Bond sealant grips tightly to the engineered fabric nailing strip on the shingle below. With only four nails, the wind resistance can withhold up to 130 MPH winds. 2015 Energy Star Rated Most Efficient

What does this award mean?

ENERGY STAR is the trusted, government-backed symbol for energy efficiency helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy-efficient products and practices.

How Does the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Choose which Products Earn the Label?

Products can earn the ENERGY STAR label by meeting the energy efficiency requirements set forth in ENERGY STAR product specifications. EPA establishes these specifications based on the following set of key guiding principles:

  • Product categories must contribute significant energy savings nationwide.
  • Certified products must deliver the features and performance demanded by consumers, in addition to increased energy efficiency.
  • If the certified product costs more than a conventional, less-efficient counterpart, purchasers will recover their investment in increased energy efficiency through utility bill savings, within a reasonable period of time.
  • Energy efficiency can be achieved through broadly available, non-proprietary technologies offered by more than one manufacturer.
  • Product energy consumption and performance can be measured and verified with testing.
  • Labeling would effectively differentiate products and be visible for purchasers.

Layover Roofing - Never A Good Idea

If you are needing a new roof, cheaper is not always better. You'll be paying more in the long run if you take the cheap way out.

Layover roofing is placing a new roof over top of the existing older roof.
This can cause several problems that might not show up right away but will cost you more in the future if problems occur.

ADDED STRESS Adding a new layer on top of the current roof can put more stress on your home, which is never good for your home's structure. Older homes can experience severe settling after a second roof is added over top of the first layer.

UNDERLYING DAMAGE if you simply put a new roof on top of the damaged one, there is no way to do a thorough roof deck inspection, and you won't know if there was any underlying damage. The wood under the older roof could be rotten and decaying. A big misconception about layover roofs is that it will repair leaks. False. Unexplained leaks will eventually reappear. It is also difficult to detect where a leak is located once there is a second layer added, due to water being able to travel to a different area of the roof before signs of leaks appear.

FUTURE COSTS Not if, but when, you'll need to fix the roof after having a layover roof, the removal costs will be very high due to the extra labor and disposal fees. Many building codes restrict the amount of times you can layer the roof. Local code for roofing is two layers. Warrantys are also voided when you have a two layer roof
